Ann Greaves, wife of John Gailey, was born in England, but her descendents have been unable to learn of her parentage of the date of her birth (note: some limited information is now known. She is believed to have been born in Preston Bissett, England). Some are of the opinion that she married John Gailey prior to their leaving England.
She came with him from Nauvoo to Salt Lake City in 1848 or 1849, and died in 1851, leaving two small daughters, Sarah Jane, two years old and Elizabeth, three weeks old.
She lies buried [as Ann Gailey, in section C, within plots 8-13] in the city cemetery in Salt Lake City [further information found Utah State burial database, which shows her birth as 27 Oct 1816 in Hereford County, England; dying on 3 Aug 1851 in Salt Lake City, Utah; and being buried on 13 Aug 1851].
One of her grandsons later bought the lot and made a family burial plat there. Her daughter, Sarah Jane, always took care of the grave and kept it marked by a large rock for many years.
