Maria Sophie Jacobsen (Jensen) was born in Terslose, Holbaek, Denmark in 1864, the daughter of Jacob Andersen and Karen Kirsten Jensen -- both natives of Denmark.  She married Ferdinand Friis Hintze in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Though her given last name is Jacobsen, following the naming convention in Denmark at that time, for most of her life in America, Maria used the last name of Jensen, her paternal grandfather's last name.
