OBITUARY:
"Yakima: Bert L. Blevens of Selah, 86, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2004 at Yakima Regional Medical Center. He was born March 25, 1917 in Lamar, CO to Elbert A. and Evva M (Abbott) Blevens.
Bert married Frances L. Strain in Lamar in 1934. They lived in Colorado before moving to Washington in 1937. Bert worked on dairy farms and in 1944 started his career with Pacific Power & Light Co. as a lineman and he retired in 1982 as a district foreman. He worked hard all of his life. Bert loved the outdoors, hunting with his family, fishing for the big one and trying to find the perfect and biggest Christmas tree he could. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Frances L. Blevens of Selah; two daughters, Sharon and her husband, Jack Pittz or Oregon and Jean and her husband, Don Crane of Kennewick; two sons, Gary and Betty Blevens of Federal Way, Washington and Richard and Tamara Blevens of Selah; two sisters, Ruby Wybrant of Arkansas and Viola Hintze of Utah; 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. His parents, three brothers and one grandson, Stacey Blevens, preceded him in death."
