BIRTH:
Age a discrepancy: Marriage license states he was 29 in 1975. ( Doc #1, Livingston Co.)
which means his year of birth would be 1846.
Declaration for pension states birthday as January 28, 1838.
Obituary said birth date is Feb 8 1837.
Obituary said he was born in New York, but census records state New Jersey.
In Pension papers there is a written statement saying there is" no public record known to him giving date of his birth and that -----investigation he finds there is no baptismal or family record of any kind now in existence showing the date of his birth."
From a newspaper of Sept 12, 1909, Viola Hintze copied an obituary. These facts were in it:
"7:00 last Sunday evening, Thomas Abbott passed away at his home in this city. Mr. Abbott was born in New York state Feb 8, 1837 and died Sept 12 1909. At 10 years of age he moved with his parents to Illinois where he resided until 1883. On August 18, 1875 at Pontiac, Illinois, he was married to Mrs. Mellisa Kennedy. To this union were born 6 children, 3 of whom, with the aged wife, survive and were at his bedside at the time of his death. Mr. Abbott came to Furnas County in 1883 and has resided near Edison till the past 3 years, during which he has been a resident of our city."

WE NEED TO FIND 2 MORE CHILDREN ACCORDING TO OBITUTARY OF THOMAS and MALISSA.
Handwritten notes by Viola Hintze from an obituary: "Mrs. Thomas Abbott died at the home of her duaghter, Mrs. Walter Girch, north of Edison, on Sunday, April 8th, at the age of 64 years and 4 months and 17 days. Mellissa Kennedy was born Nov. 22, 1852 in Vanango County, Pennsylvania and passed from life Sunday April 8th 1917. She became the wife of Thomas Abbott at Pontiac, Illinois on August 18, 1875. To this union were born 6 children, three of whom survive namely, Mrs. Walter Girch, Scott and Benjamin Abbott of Johnstown, Nebraska. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Angeline Jaycox of Golden, Colorado. Deceased came to Nebraska with her husband 38 years ago and all this time had resided in Furnas County."
